Back styles guide

When choosing a wedding dress, it is important you to think every little detail through. One of these crucial details is the style of the back. You might be surprised that you can get quite creative not only with the neckline, but also with the back style.

Lets go through some of the most popular back styles one by one.

The Open back – is more or less self-explanatory. However, open backs come in all shapes and sizes. They can vary from a completely naked back with a low deep cut to a small intricately placed hole in between your scapula.

The Full back – stands for a completely closed up dress at the back. If you are looking for something more modest or if you simply prefer not to show too much skin at the back this is definitely the way to go.

The Illusion back – the trend of illusion in a wedding dresses is more and more popular each year. It is a very interesting way to show off some skin, yet feel comfortable and confident that nothing is sliding off. The illusion back means that there is seemingly bare skin, whereas in fact, your back is covered with a see-through material.

The Lace up back – not only does lacing in the back serve as a back fastening nowadays, but it also serves as a sort of décor. If you’re not into buttons or zippers, then definitely check out some dresses with lacing!

The Racer back – do not judge this one too quickly, give it a chance. Forget racer back t-shirts! Imagine something far more elegant and seductive, namely a thin lace line going down your spine, connecting the upper and lower part of your dress. You are going to love how unconventionally amazing a racer back may look!

The Criss cross back – straps crossed on the back create a very unique look. Go for lace straps for a more romantic look or for embroidered straps for a more luxurious vibe. If you are looking for something simple, opt for spaghetti straps!

Melanie
