From an AI-Generated or Pinterest Wedding Dress to a Real Gown
Designed a wedding dress with an AI image tool or saved one on Pinterest? What can be built, which images to send, what it costs and how long it takes.
You can turn a wedding dress you designed with an AI image tool, or one you saved on Pinterest, into a real gown. The image is the starting point, not the pattern: a tailor has to work out how each detail is cut, supported and closed, and some details in AI images cannot be sewn as drawn. At Devotion Dresses you send the image, our tailors reply within one business day with questions or a first idea and a free, no-obligation quote, and the gown is made to your 21 measurements in our European atelier. A gown designed from your own idea is quoted from about US$1,000, depending on the design, and most designs take 8–16 weeks to make, plus 1–2 weeks delivery.
This guide explains what can and cannot be built, which images to send, what it costs, how long it takes and why we make a gown inspired by your image, never a copy of another designer's gown. When you are ready, send your image on our design-your-own page.
What an AI image can and cannot show
An AI image generator draws a picture of a dress. It does not draw seams, closures, linings or the structure inside a bodice, and it does not have to obey gravity. Most of what brides love in these images can be made:
- Silhouettes: A-line, ball gown, mermaid, sheath and the shapes in between.
- Necklines, sleeves, backs and trains: a different neckline, sheer or lace sleeves, a lower back, a longer train.
- Fabric, lace, beading and colour: from classic ivory to blush, champagne or a shade of your own.
Some details only work in the picture:
- Straps or sleeves that float away from the body with nothing holding them in place.
- Sheer bodices or skirts that hold a stiff shape with nothing inside them.
- Drapes and folds that stand away from the body in a way no fabric holds on its own.
- Details that change from one image to the next, such as a different back in every view.
For each detail like this, our tailors propose the closest alternative that can be built, for example a strap set on illusion tulle or a lined, boned bodice. You see the proposal in your free quote and approve every detail before anything is cut.
Which images to send
- The image itself, as large as you have it. Screenshots are fine, and the form takes JPG, PNG, WEBP and HEIC files: up to 6 images of up to 15 MB each.
- More than one view if you have it. If you made the image yourself, a back view or a close-up of the neckline or lace helps, even if the views do not quite match: tell us which one is right.
- For a Pinterest pin, the picture and what you love about it, for example "the neckline and the sleeves; the skirt can change".
- Your wedding date and budget, if you know them. Both are optional, but they help us confirm the timeline and suggest fabrics.
You can also send a sketch of your own or simply describe the dress. Your name, your email and either a description or an image are all we need.
Inspired by your image, never a copy
We make a gown inspired by your image, never a copy of another designer's gown. If a Pinterest pin shows a gown by a named designer or bridal house, we take the elements you love, such as the silhouette, the neckline or the sleeves, and design our own gown around them. We don't copy other designers' gowns or branding. An image you generated yourself is treated the same way: it is the starting point for a gown designed with you and made to your body.
What it costs
Every design is quoted individually, and the quote is free. A gown designed from your own idea is quoted from about US$1,000, depending on the design: fabric, lace, beading and construction set the price, and your quote states it before you decide. For comparison, the gowns in our catalogue cost US$570 to US$4,850 (checked October 2026; every gown's current price is on its page). You can pay in full or in 3 interest-free installments, or reserve now and send your measurements later (Reserve & Measure Later). For real prices by collection, read how much a custom wedding dress costs.
How long it takes
Most designs take 8–16 weeks to make, plus 1–2 weeks delivery; your quote confirms the timeline for your date. If your wedding is sooner, express production from order to your door is possible from about 30 days, on request, depending on the design and your date. Tell us your wedding date when you send your image: before you order, we confirm whether express is possible for that design and date, and what it involves.
Measurements and fit
There are no in-person fittings. You measure at home with our step-by-step guide, our team checks your 21 measurements before any fabric is cut, and your gown is delivered within 2.5 cm (1 in) of them, as our Terms of Service (5.1) state. A small local adjustment, such as a hem for your shoes, may still be needed.
Delivery and import duties
We deliver worldwide by DHL Express or UPS Priority. Outside the EU, import duties or taxes in your country, if any, are paid by the customer and charged by the carrier on delivery.
