Quick Answer
Devotion Dresses is an online made-to-measure bridal atelier, dressing brides since 2010. Order any gown in our catalogue cut to your 21 body measurements at the same price as a standard size, change details such as the neckline, sleeves, back or train, or send a photo or sketch for a free quote on a gown designed from your idea, from about US$1,000 depending on the design. Basic changes are included; options that cost extra are shown on the gown's page. Catalogue gowns cost $570–$4,850 (USD). Both catalogue gowns and gowns designed from your idea can be paid in full or in 3 interest-free installments, or reserved now with measurements sent later.
If you are searching for a custom wedding dress, you are looking for a gown that is built around your body and your idea of the day, not pulled from a rack and approximated through alterations. At Devotion Dresses, made to measure is not an upgrade: every gown can be ordered that way, at the same price as a standard size. Your gown is cut from your measurements and sewn by hand in our European atelier, from the design you choose, with the changes you ask for, or from a photo or sketch of your own. This page explains the three ways to order, what each costs and how long it takes, how custom compares with made to measure and bespoke, and what to expect from the fit.

What 'custom' actually means at Devotion Dresses
Custom at Devotion Dresses starts with the fit. Your gown is cut from your 21 body measurements, which our team checks before cutting, instead of being altered down from a standard sample size. On top of that, you can change the design of a catalogue gown, such as the neckline, sleeves, back style, skirt volume or train length; which changes are possible depends on the design, and our team confirms each one with you in writing before production. Or you can send a photo or sketch of the dress you have in mind and get a free quote for a gown designed from your idea. Every made-to-measure gown is delivered within 2.5 cm (1 in) of your ordered measurements, as our Terms of Service (5.1) state; a small local adjustment such as a hem may still be needed.
What a custom wedding dress costs
Each catalogue gown's price is shown on its page, and made to measure costs the same as the standard size: the price covers the whole gown cut to your measurements, with the bodice construction, lining, internal support and closures of that style. Basic changes to the neckline, sleeves, back or train length are included. Options that cost extra on some gowns, such as long sleeves or a longer train, are shown on the gown's page, and premium upgrades such as extra beading, hand-placed lace appliqués, a different fabric or significantly altered structural elements may carry a surcharge; we confirm any charge with you before production starts. A gown designed from your own photo or sketch is priced in its free quote, from about US$1,000 depending on the design. Prices are in US dollars. Catalogue gowns can be paid in full or in 3 interest-free installments, and with Reserve & Measure Later you can reserve a catalogue gown now and send your measurements within 30 days, at the same price. A gown designed from your idea can be paid the same ways: in full, in 3 interest-free installments, or reserved now with your measurements sent later. Custom, made to measure or bespoke?
Made to measure means an existing design is cut and tailored to your measurements; every gown in our catalogue can be made this way, at the same price as a standard size. Custom goes a step further: you change the design, or have a gown made from your own idea. Bespoke usually means a one-off design developed with a dressmaker over several in-person fittings. We work online and have no in-person fittings, so we do not offer bespoke in that sense. Our closest equivalent is a gown designed from your photo or sketch and made to your 21 measurements, with a free quote before you decide.
Timeline and production journey
Production takes 8–12 weeks for most gowns and 10–14 or 12–16 weeks for some; each gown's page shows its time. Delivery then takes 1–2 weeks. Before production starts, you choose your gown and any changes online, our team confirms every detail with you by chat, email or WhatsApp, and your measurements are checked before the fabric is cut. Seamstresses then make the gown by hand in our European atelier, and it gets a final quality check before it ships by DHL Express or UPS Priority. We recommend ordering 4 to 6 months before the wedding; ordering earlier leaves extra room for a try-on and any small local adjustment.
How custom differs from off-the-rack
Off-the-rack wedding dresses are made in standard sample sizes and bought in whichever size is closest to yours. Alterations are then paid on top of the dress, and they work against a pattern that was drawn for someone else. A custom dress reverses the order: the pattern is cut from your measurements, and the neckline, sleeves, train and details are chosen rather than inherited. For brides with a specific design in mind, or whose proportions sit between standard sizes, that is the more direct route: the gown arrives within 2.5 cm (1 in) of your ordered measurements, and a small local adjustment such as a hem may still be needed.
Looking for a custom wedding dress maker near you?
You do not need a local dressmaker to get a custom wedding dress. Devotion Dresses is an online atelier: you order from anywhere, measure at home with our step-by-step guide and video tutorials, and our team helps by chat, email or WhatsApp. Your gown is made in our European atelier and delivered worldwide by DHL Express or UPS Priority; brides in more than 45 countries have ordered from us. The only place to see our gowns in person is the independently owned franchise showroom in Dublin, Ireland, which sees brides by appointment.
Handmade in our European atelier
Each gown is cut and sewn by hand in our European atelier, with the bodice construction, lining and internal support its design calls for. We work with European fabrics such as silk Mikado, French Chantilly lace and Italian tulle. Your measurements are checked by our team before any fabric is cut; if one looks unusual next to the others, we contact you before going ahead. Every finished gown gets a final quality check before it is dispatched.

- What if it doesn't fit?

A small local adjustment such as a hem may still be needed. If the gown arrives with a manufacturing defect, tell us within 15 days and it is exchanged or refunded in full. - Yes. Send us a photo, a sketch or a description of the dress you want, and we reply within one business day with a free, no-obligation quote for a gown designed from your idea and made to your 21 measurements. The quote states the price and confirms the timeline before you decide. A Pinterest pin or an image made with an AI tool works too: we design your gown from it, never copying another designer's dress. A gown designed from your own idea is quoted from about US$1,000, depending on the design. You can pay for it in full or in 3 interest-free installments, or reserve it now and send your measurements later (Reserve & Measure Later).
- What can I customize?
- On a catalogue gown, common changes are the neckline, sleeves, back style, skirt volume, train length or more coverage. Basic changes are included; options that cost extra on some gowns are priced on the gown's page, and a different fabric or extra embellishment is quoted and confirmed before production. Which changes are possible depends on the design, and our team confirms each one with you in writing.
- Can I change my mind mid-production?
- Small adjustments are possible during the design and pre-production phase, before fabric is cut. Once construction begins, changes that affect the pattern (silhouette, neckline, length) are difficult because the dress is built around those exact specifications. Our team confirms every detail with you in writing before cutting starts, so there are no surprises.
- Is ordering a wedding dress online safe?
- You can check who you are buying from. Orders are placed with Devotion s.r.o., a company registered in Prague, Czech Republic (Company Registration No. 03835448), and our Terms of Service set out production, fit, cancellation and defects in writing. You pay through Stripe, our payment partner, at a secure checkout, and you can cancel by email within 24 hours of ordering. We have dressed brides since 2010. Read our Terms of Service.
- Do you ship worldwide, and is VAT added?
- Yes. We deliver worldwide by DHL Express or UPS Priority, usually 1–2 weeks after production. The delivery charge depends on the gown's collection and is shown on its page and at checkout; Premium Collection gowns ship free. For EU delivery addresses, 21% VAT is added at checkout. Outside the EU, import duties or taxes in your country, if any, are paid by the customer and charged by the carrier on delivery.
- Do I need to visit your atelier?
- No. You can order, measure and confirm every detail remotely: our measurement guide has step-by-step video tutorials, and our team answers by chat, email or WhatsApp. In Ireland, an independently owned franchise showroom in Dublin also sees brides by appointment.
