Structure in the bodice, length in the neckline
An apple shape carries its fullness through the middle, with the waist less defined than the bust and hips. Advice for it usually points to three things: a skirt that falls from the waist without following the body, a neckline that draws a long vertical line, and a bodice with enough structure to hold its own shape. Every gown on this page has all three: an A-line skirt, a V or deep V neckline and a corset bodice.
Empire waists, which sit just under the bust and fall loosely from there, are often suggested for an apple shape too, but they are rare in our catalogue: only three gowns have one. An A-line with a structured bodice is the shape we offer in numbers, and it does a similar job: the boned bodice keeps a clean line, and the skirt widens from the natural waist instead of tracing the middle.
Nearly all of these gowns also list a built-in bra, and those come first, followed by gowns with a light skirt in chiffon, tulle or mesh, which moves away from the body; satin gives a smoother, more formal line. A V-neck is more covered, a deep V runs lower and longer; both lead the eye upward.
How the bodice is cut for you
A corset bodice made to measure is drafted from your bust, under-bust and waist, and from the front and back corset heights and the corset side measurement, so the boning and the waist seam sit at your proportions rather than a size chart's. That is the main difference from buying a standard size and having it altered: the structure starts in the right place.
Sleeves are a matter of taste: some gowns here have long sleeves, and a few list sleeves as a paid option. For any other change, ask us by chat, email or WhatsApp before you order; we reply within one business day. Gowns arrive within 2.5 cm (1 in) of the measurements you give us. Production is 8–12 weeks for most of our gowns and 10–14 or 12–16 for some, as each gown's page shows, with delivery 1–2 weeks later.
What wedding dress suits an apple shape?
Shapes stylists often suggest are an A-line skirt that falls from the waist, a V-neck that draws the eye upward and a structured bodice. Every gown on this page combines the three.
Do you have empire waist wedding dresses?
Very few: only three gowns in our catalogue have an empire waist. If you want that line, ask us by chat, email or WhatsApp about a specific gown, or about having a dress designed for you.
Is a corset bodice comfortable with a fuller middle?
A corset cut from your own measurements is shaped around your waist rather than pulling a standard size in, and it spreads its hold over the whole bodice. If you would prefer a softer bodice, ask us by chat, email or WhatsApp before ordering and we will tell you what the gown allows.
V-neck or deep V?
A deep V runs lower and makes a longer line; a V-neck covers more. Both are on this page. If you want a gown's V raised or lowered, ask us by chat, email or WhatsApp before you order; some changes cost extra.
